The photo on the left (taken on 7th March) shows how much snow is in Coleman and Blairmore. You might think there is no possibility of skiing or fat biking on the trails. On Sunday night about 3 cms of snow fell. It has since melted in town. But that new snow was groomed on the trails so when we went skiing yesterday morning conditions were good – no not excellent like they were earlier this year! We skied Mainline, Mill, Cutline, Bullmoose, Whitetail and part of Marten. The upper trails were better than good! Temperatures remained below freezing while we were there. We saw 4 fat bikers and one skier and all thought it was great to be out there. The images below (use cursor to magnify) show the current Environment Canada forecasts for east and west of the Continental Divide. Often the 2 forecasts are vastly different. Where the dividing line between snow and no snow occurs we just have to wait and see. Certainly Environment Canada does not know! Often the trails get a bit of snow when nothing falls in Blairmore. So keep an eye on our webcam in Weather under the Conditions Tab to see what is going on. It is very likely that conditions will still be good or very good for the weekend.
