The web guy along with 23 others did a lot of work on Saturday. The day was windy but that did not deter different groups of people chainsawing fallen logs, waxing all the skis for the ski loan on Nov 1/2, brushing the day use and other areas, erecting fencing at the newly expanded Tecumseh trailhead and clearing some trails of rocks, branches and other debris. Clearing the rocks and debris from trails helps prevent damage to the rollers used for grooming, particularly early in the season. Brushing the trails eliminates all those stalks that can stick up through a shallow snow pack. Thanks to all who participated. The photo (thanks to Kyle) shows Doug and Dave brushing the entrance to the camp trails near the top of the initial hill. Not sure what Larry is doing at the back of the truck, likely getting another brusher ready.
In other news, the shelter that the CCHS students built for us last year that was at the entrance to the trails for some time has been moved to its “permanent” location on the northern trail between junctions 201 and 203.
The other photo shows the Coleman Lions/Crowsnest Nordic float in the July 1st parade. The float won first prize so the $50 prize was shared between the Coleman Lions and the club.
