Conditions are currently ideal for skating…but not the type of skating our trail users normally enjoy at Allison. Unfortunately, due to lack of snow and warm weather, a large portions of our lower trail network have turned to ice.
There will be no grooming until significant snow arrives. Our grooming team reported that earlier in the week that conditions were hard & icy with some softening as the day goes on. Use extreme caution on lower Mainline going up or down. From the parking lot, it is very icy until you reach the top of the first hill, even in the afternoon.
All lower trails have bare patches throughout. Skiing lower trails is marginal and not recommended. Upper trails have plenty of snow but icy conditions persist on all trails. Use caution when skiing and watch for hazards and tree debris on trails. This might be a good chance to hike some of the single track trails to explore different aspects of the great trails at Allison.
We are hopeful for snow in the forecast will turn things around in time for the Loppet on February 21st. Please stay tuned for more updates next week.
