The Crowsnest Nordic Club is planning to add Biathlon to our youth programming this coming winter. The club is actively seeking a volunteer coach to attend biathlon coaching courses to support introductory level biathlon within the club. The community level training courses offered through Biathlon Alberta is based around EcoAim rifles (eco aims use lasers not 22cal rimfire).

If you are interested in a role as a volunteer biathlon coach the club asks for a full 1 year coaching commitment in exchange for club funded training.

Biathlon Alberta community training courses are scheduled:

June 8th 2025 – Biathlon Alberta Community Course Part 2: https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=38826

June 15th 2025 – Biathlon Alberta Community Course Part 1 https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=38843

Note that Part 1 and 2 courses can be taken in any order. NCCP community level biathlon coaching courses dates are also expected this fall (if its too early to be thinking about winter).

Course requirements:

– Must be 14 years of age or older

– Must be a current member of Biathlon Canada

Recommended Course Prerequisites:

Firearms Safety Course

NCCP E-Learning:

– Making Ethical Decisions

– Coach initiation in sport

– Safe Sport (required by Biathlon Alberta)

– Understanding the Rule of Two

– Creating a positive sport environment

– Emergency Action Plan
